Having tasted success with their Be Well range of adult syrups amongst the discerning millennial market, our client saw an opportunity to align the Children’s variant with the new, modern feel of Be Well. The question was “how do we develop beautiful, sustainable packaging that resonates with young parents – communicating Harker Herbals quality and values – whilst engaging and delighting kids who’ll be taking it? It swiftly became obvious that the answer lay in a fine balance between efficacy and playfulness.
Taking on board Harker’s plant-first approach, the raw ingredients of each product became our starting point. We selected one hero plant for each blend: lemon for Chest Soothe, pansy flower for Skin Rescue, blackcurrant for Vira Guard, and so on…and then we began to play. We made rainbows out of citrus peels, balloons out of blackcurrants, and butterflies from pansy petals. The aim was whimsy, fun; making you take a second look.
Each icon was then positioned singularly on the outer cartons, offering a playful sense of humour, while allowing us to retain the minimalist aesthetic that so appealed to our new adult audience. Our nature-inspired graphics were printed onto a sustainably sourced, uncoated stock for a textural experience with vegetable-based inks. Bold, colour blocked backgrounds were chosen to make the products sing out on shelf, while gold foil blocking was added to elevate the premium quality cues.
